Before Karin Eaton became founder and designer, she lived in Paris and was a habitué of the March aux Puces. Here she honed her passion for design and antiques when she wasn’t on the runway or at a photoshoot. In 1986 while on a shopping trip in Normandy for the antiques store she founded with her mother and sister, Karin met the master blacksmith Pierre Picard. Entranced with his craft and convinced that this was work that would be appreciated by Americans, she secured a contract for distribution in North America. Karin began designing product shortly thereafter to create a bridge between French and American aesthetics and needs.
